The Pigeon Called Time
Well, time sure does fly by! With a semester under our belt I am realize I am so not as good at blogging as you would think. I do love to write, and it helps me process, but in my defense, we have had a long lasting battle with our Wifi until recently -trying to get online for anything was a hassle, so we barely got our homework done and kept up with facebook and emails.
But beyond the excuses, I'll get into some real updating here. I am busy preparing (can't you tell?) for our trip Home for the Holidays! We are very excited, and hope to see snow! We did go home to lovely Colorado about a month ago for Thanksgiving, which really helped with our advanced case of Home-sick-ery. I'm sure by Spring semester in January we will be cured! (Temporarily, of course.)
We enjoyed Thanksgiving break a lot, a little relaxation, lots of good food, quality time with family, catching up with friends, and a fun road trip just the two of us -Oh, and Ani. She was very good, I was proud of her. That is, until she bit Janice (Gabriel's mom) the day after we had arrived. She must have been stressed because of the long drive -14 hours is a long time in the car for anybody, especially a cat, and she prefers to not be moving when eating, drinking, or using her litter box...poor kitty :( -but she still knows better, I was shocked. Hopefully, she won't be so uptight this time, maybe she learned her lesson.
The semester has gone pretty well. Classes are going good, we are slowly building tighter bonds with friends, and getting plugged in. We both have a tendency to be hermits, believe it or not! Maybe we just like each other too much ;) We are totally content to stay home alone watching MacGyver on netflix and eating delicious but probably terribly unhealthy pizza from Papa Murphy's. I cook a lot, too, don't get me wrong. But, we definitely have a weakness for pizza, chinese food, and Taco Bell... and Jack in the box...that is, if we have extra money, and we usually don't anyway =) (Our arteries are probably grateful...lol) Anyway, so Gabriel has been working for a Drape company and recently went on with a Chimney company as well. He makes good money when he gets work, but he doesn't always get work. It's sort of an on-call situation, so, there have been some tough times. The good news is my *amazing* dad fixed my broken down car and hopefully we will have it down here by January and I can start looking for work. I was told by a friend at school that nanny jobs in the area pay well so I started looking into childcare as well as housework and pet care (all of which I have some experience in) and have already seen some promising opportunities. Our expenses are low so if I could get a small consistent income we could probably save whatever Gabriel makes, which would really help out when we run out of savings for tuition money next fall... But God has been very faithful so I have no doubt something will work out.
Anyway, I really have to get packing, laundry, and cleaning done tonight not to mention get showered and ready for church tomorrow so I will have to go for now. I promise to try to be better at updating moving forward!
God bless and Merry Christmas!
