Moving on
It's that time again. Moving time.
Gabriel and I are in conversation with some friends of the family who have been in ministry for years. God recently laid it on their hearts to work with YWAM in China, so they will be leaving the country at the end of this year. Along with a host of other arrangements to be made, was what to do with their house in Illinois. They didn't want to sell it, which I can only imagine is in part due to the fact that it is only a couple miles down the road from their daughter's house (I'll give you a hint: there are grandkids involved). Renting it from out of the country would be difficult, and trusting it to a rental agency could be risky. They were considering trying to rent it, so I reached out and suggested they consider renting it to "caretakers" instead of a typical rental situation. The caretakers would be someone they know and trust who would take good care of the property, and manage minor maintenance for them, so they can focus on their ministry in China. This gets the expenses covered, and eliminates the most risk. By renting the house at cost, the caretakers get a great deal in exchange for their help. They were very interested -because I offered Gabe and myself as potential candidates. We have agreed to partner up in this. Gabe and I are heading to Illinois in November to check out the town, see the house, and finalize any details with them. We will be moving late December or early January.
It couldn't be more perfect in so many ways. One of which being the fact that they will leave it furnished -easier for them not having to figure out what to do with all their furniture, and great for us since we gave most of ours away when moving from Idaho. They are also letting us bring our cat :)
I am excited for the next chapter. That part of the country is beautiful, and has nice weather for the most part. It's not too terribly far from family, and not so isolated as the part of Idaho where we were living is. And I'll be the closest I have been in years to one of my best friends!
I also got a job working as a Marketing Assistant. I am working from home so I can take the job with me, and my new boss is a very nice, Christian man. I am really excited for this opportunity -such a blessing and an answer to prayer.
Gabriel will start looking for work locally once we move, if necessary. In the meantime, we'll continue to explore freelance opportunities and help my parents as much as we can. We have a lot to do! We will be traveling for almost three weeks including the Illinois visit, and heading to Colorado for Thanksgiving. Plus, we need to go through our stuff and try to eliminate as much as possible and get the rest organized.
We'll keep working on Gabe's comic. I'll post more updates about that when the time comes. I appreciate everyone's prayers. Please let us know if you need any prayer, as well.
God bless you all.
