Well... How in the world do I end up with so many unpublished drafts? My OCD can't handle it, and I thought this was actually well written info that tracks. That is if reading things out of order doesn't confuse you lol. This is from the summer of 2015. Yes, that's right. I am publishing this 2 years late. Better late than never?

Title: Home Sweet... Idaho?

Hello Everyone! It has been a very long time since I have updated here. In my defense my laptop screen has been broken -and my sweet hubby just bought me a new one -laptop, not screen ;) (Thanks, sweetie!) And well, writing a blog post on a smart phone can be... time consuming, and frustrating when auto-correct tries so hard to make you sound like an idiot! As if we need any help -haha!

So, what's up with Idaho? You must be wondering. Seeing as that is in the title.

Gabriel and I are moving there. By now I'm sure you are all thinking we can't stand sitting still in one place for too long. Which is partially true, and I couldn't blame you for coming to that conclusion based on our track record. However, we are actually moving for the opposite reason. We have been back in lovely Colorado for about six months. It took about three months for Gabriel to find a good job, and we have yet been unsuccessful finding a home. The rental market here is extremely competitive. It can be really difficult to compete if a) you can't drop everything in your life in seconds in order to apply and throw a deposit down on a place as soon as it becomes available, b) you don't have an extremely large income or multiple incomes in your household, c) you don't have tons of money to throw at every application fee you can find. Any type of hesitation, and someone else gets it, and even when you do everything right, they may choose someone else who makes more money or just looks better on paper. The long and short of it is that we had the terrifying epiphany that (at our current rate) we will never be able to settle down here and buy a home. We just can't afford it, and we can't compete in this market. We could have gone to college pursuing big money making jobs, but that was never our heart. We wanted to be creative, independent, and serve God in small ways. So, while Gabriel works on finishing his book and working toward a goal of making his art full-time, and I continue writing, we really don't see a future where we are rolling in the kind of money you need to even buy a tiny house here.

God, being God and knowing all things, had other plans in mind anyway. Only after a few weeks of contemplating our dilemma, we were offered an amazing opportunity! In Idaho! Gabriel has a friend who *IS* a full-time artist, making his own graphic novels, who wants us to come and work in his office in Idaho. It's a great opportunity for Gabriel to learn the ins and outs of the business, and for both of us to get a fresh start. The bonus is the real estate market in Idaho is totally different from Colorado (In Colorado you can't hope to win a bid unless you offer more than the asking price, there you can offer less and still get the house!). The price is right, too! Apartments in the area of Idaho we are going are averaging $500 per month, a third of Colorado apartments! And you can still buy decent little houses for $100k or less! Much less if you are game for a fixer upper.

It's a new beginning for us, and we couldn't be more excited!  The pictures we've seen are also beautiful :) and even though we love our family, we are so READY to have a place of our own.

Praise God for provision, guidance, open doors, and new beginnings. We will miss all of you, our friends and family. Please keep in touch and keep us in your prayers!
